Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • 3 years of head teaching/pupil personnel experience
  • 3.0 GPA average on conferred degrees
  • A valid teaching license or credential
  • A current role with access to a residency school site
  • A master's degree (Only a requirement in certain states - check your program eligibility to confirm your program options and requirements)
Prospective participants in the Fellowship are also expected to embrace an equity-focused mindset and have a track record of driving student success.

Financial Aid

Through the support of philanthropic partners, scholarships are available to the Fellowship for those who qualify. In addition, candidates for the Master’s + Certification Track are eligible for federal financial aid and are required to submit a FAFSA. Financial aid is orchestrated solely by Bank Street Graduate School of Education.

Accreditation and Certification at Bank Street Graduate School of Education:  Graduates are eligible for New York State School Building Leader (SBL) certification. To be eligible for certification, candidates must have successfully completed three years of teaching or pupil personnel service work in PreK–12 settings. Candidates are also required to pass both the New York State School Building Leader Assessment and the Educating All Students exam. Completion or evidence of completion of the three New York State mandated workshops in Child Abuse Identification, School Violence Prevention, and Harassment, Bullying, and Discrimination Prevention (Dignity for All Students) is a requirement of this program. Workshops can be completed online, and documentation shared with your SSA. Certification support for the New York State certification process and requirements is available to assist you at certification@bankstreet.edu.

Administrator licensing/certification requirements are at all times subject to the applicable requirements of the credentialing state. All licensing/certification determinations are made by the credentialing state; accordingly, New Leaders, Clark Atlanta University, or Morehouse College cannot guarantee any individual an administrator credential at any time.
